Desktop too large for screen
by Chad Cuddihy on Jul 23, 2008 at 12:43:34 am

Hi all,

Suddenly the desktop on my iMac extends beyond the limits of the monitor on all sides. That is, if I can see the the program name in the title bar I can't see the time or my icons on the right. If I use the dock then the top inch of the screen disappears.
Any suggestions?

Thank you.

Check "Universal Access" in your system preferences - it's happened to me when I got all thumbs and accidently hit the right key combination which turned on the Zoom feature... either that or you have a friend who knows how to turn it on and they're playing a prank. If it's not that, then I don't know.

Thanks for the advice, Gary. Unfortunately "zoom" is off, so it's not that.

Hold down the control key and scroll your mouse.

There are no "technical solutions" to your "artistic problems".

Thanks, Zane. It turns out "zoom" was set to "option and command" with the mouse rather than control, but you put me on the solution. Much appreciated.
