Remote Access for Free?

Remote Access for Free?
by Brian Tario (Aujom Productions) on Jul 9, 2008 at 7:54:04 pm

I recently bought a MacBook Pro (running current OS, 10.5.2). I have a Mac Pro desktop at the office (running 10.4.?). It seems Apple Remote Desktop is the obvious choice if I want to control my work Mac from home on my laptop. But it's $300!! There must be a free way to do remote access through the OS right? If Windows will do it then Macs must. I read something online about using VNC and Terminal, but it made zero sense to me. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot, Brian

hello...

[Aujom Productions] " I read something online about using VNC and Terminal, but it made zero sense to me"

alas it will have to make sense to you if you want to do this - try this article:

http://www.dssw.co.uk/blog/2007/05/14/a-vnc-server-is-included-in-mac-os-x-...

and see if that helps any - it seems to remove a lot of the complexity, leaving only the vnc client to install...
