I am looking for a strong Avid/FCP editor with EXPERIENCE in the reality genre to help me with ongoing made for the web reality shows for zpop, an online media network in Seattle. This is a remote position, you need not live in Seattle.

I would be interested in getting more information. I have been working with FCP for about 5 years and have been doing reality/documentary style television for 2 years. I am currently producing a show that airs on Outdoor Channel that is an outdoor documentary/reality style show. I would be interested in more information.

I think I may be your solution. I started cutting on Avid in '95 and FCP in 2001. As a producer/shooter/editor I have worked on several "reality" shows. I am a self-starting, producing editor who needs very little supervision.
Racerchick looks very nice. Great energy and lots of juicy camera movement. Seems like a fun one.

Hi Scott,
I've been editing for MTV, Fox Sports, Discovery Channel, Disney Channel, for about 12 years, I work on reality, docu-reality, promos, commercials and concerts, etc. My latest projects are
Julieta Venegas MTV Unplugged (nominated for 4 Grammy's) and Fox Sports reality-documentary "El Reto Final" soccer show.
I've been editing on FCP since version 2.0 and had every version since, I now have FCP Studio 2 with HD Cappabilities. I've also edited on Avid since 1996 and I presently own an Avid Media Composer.
I've done this type of remote editing with other clients and I'm accustomed to receiving footage over the internet or FEDEX, editing it and uploading samples for approvals on our FTP.
I'm confident I can give you a great rate, especially if I'm working out of my office in Asheville, NC. Give me a call and let's talk about your project.

I am interested in working on a reality project like this and would like to talk to you about it.
My company is based in NJ and has produced a variety of reality-type productions for broadcast and web.
My facility has 2 FCP/AJA systems, and after a busy summer, is currently available for a new project.
FedEx or FTP is welcome. Digital rough cuts via download or iChat also available.
I've been editing for over 15 years, and in business for 10. My background is in broadcast television, and my company specializes in broadcast and corporate programming and production.

I'm a pretty strong FCP editor with some AVID background. I've worked on reality TV for Arabic TV channels, both as editor and post supervisor. I'm currently living in Budapest and working remotely on various projects.
I'm kind of curious about how something like this could work. Do you paper edit the footage and send it off for editing or is it basically the editor's job to pull the whole thing together and send it in for review?

Recently I have been using ftp sites to work remotely and/or exchanging hard drives. I know how this system can work. I'm an experienced editor and have worked on a wide range of projects from features, docs to TV. You can see my work and resume at the link below.
Looking at the online clips, here's some thoughts on what I would do:
The story editing is very good, I get a good sense of characters and can follow along easily.
I would push the cutting style more. Right now it's cut a bit more like a straight doc than a TV style show, maybe that's your preference?
It's also more like a straight doc in the sense that it's very "information" heavy and not as focused on the emotional relationships and struggles, that TV shows tend to rely on.
