The Primary purpose of this position is to provide professional video production and support to University faculty and administration for University courses, educational projects, and special events.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Digital Media Specialist will provide support for all aspects of video production; including but not limited to: Coordination of production needs and timelines with faculty, administrators and student workers. Set up and strike of all lighting, camera and audio equipment for video shoots. Direction of subjects and staff during video recording where required. Capture of video footage and editing special effects, titles and graphics into final produced video. Encoding of video for web streaming. Performs all aspects of in-house duplication, authoring of DVDs, creation of DVD master in preparation for outsourcing for DVD duplication. Maintenance of archives of all raw video footage. Duties also include limited management and mentoring of student workers.
Required Qualifications: The successful applicant will have personal experience working with all facets of streaming media and must have solid background in Flash video development and streaming or Real Media streaming. BS or BA degree required in Film, Broadcasting, Video Production, or related major (e.g., Communications, Graphic Arts, Theatre) with experience working with video acquisition, editing and distribution. Demonstrated understanding of all aspects of the production process (e. g, lighting, audio, etc), and a thorough understanding of MAC and PC computer operating systems, video editing, video codecs, composition, encoding and DVD authoring software, computer networking, webcasting and the internet. The successful candidate will have excellent inter-personal, verbal and written skill and be able to work under minimum supervision as well as part o f a professional technology support team committed to a common goal. Basic animation skills (including 3-D animation) desirable.
