Software Support Engineer - Digital Media / Web Services

Our direct client, located near West Hollywood, CA, is looking for a Software Support Engineer with Digital Media workflow experience for a full time / direct hire opportunity.
Troubleshoots issues to root cause, designs and implements enhancement requests. Familiar with digital media tools, formats, and workflows. Supports production deployment and use of digital media workflow solutions including third party tool integration and supporting software development.
Qualifications
Education:
· BS or MS in Computer Science or Information Technologies
Required Technical Skills:
· 2+ years experience designing and implementing complex software systems
· Must have experience developing web-services-based solutions utilizing either the Microsoft .NET framework or J2EE platform. Prefer experience working with both.
· 2+ years experience supporting production operations of software-based systems
· Experience in use of software configuration management tools (e.g. ClearCase / ClearQuest), Testing Tools (e.g. Quality Center), and ticketing systems (e.g. Service Center)
· Strong customer-facing communication (written and verbal) and support skills
· Strong problem troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
· Software Engineering - strong background and understanding of software engineering principles and applications
· Systems Integration - experience in the processes, technologies and best practices for integrating complex business systems consisting of databases, applications, services, and underlying hardware and network and storage infrastructure.
· Understanding of all aspects and phases of software development using life cycle management tools and processes. Ability to plan and execute enhancement requests
· Understanding of change management using ITIL based processes (or equivalent)
· Media and Entertainment Industry workflow process expertise including post-production and distribution technologies.
· Experience with common industry applications (e.g. Avid, FCP, ProTools, Telestream FlipFactory, Anystream, Rhozet, Digital Rapids, Snell & Wilcox, AVIsynth, etc.)
· · Understanding of relevant digital media formats and standards: Digital Cinema, Blu-ray Disc, AACS, MPEG, IMX, MXF, JPEG2000, DPX, Windows Media, QuickTime

· Other Required Skills:
· Excellent team player with strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Initiative -- Demonstrated ability to work productively and comfortably with a minimum of direction
· Collaboration -- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, building positive relationships with internal and external partners
Highly Desired Experience:
· BEA Weblogic Experience
· Experience using UML to design and build object-oriented solutions
· Development experience with Microsoft technologies such as SharePoint, Active Directory, BizTalk, Windows Workflow, Connected Service Framework and windows media.
· Knowledge of Enterprise storage
· Experience delivering Software as a service or within an ongoing operations context
