Digital retouching

Need to do some retouching on HDV. I've been working in CS3 Extended using the healing brush but it's jumpy and blotchy.
Any better way to fix blemishes, etc. Better software or tutorials on how best to achieve this?

Sorry, not specific to this forum.

But IMHO, as a blanket answer, you'll need a
rotoscoping solution. Some good examples:
the paint tool in Autodesk combustion,
or SilhouetteFX.
