green screen
by Will McMahon on Oct 7, 2008 at 3:45:19 pm

Does anyone know what the best type of green is for keying? I know there is a "tech" green, but there are several other shades out there. I did a shoot a while back, and the green screen was fairly dark. I'm thinking I should get a brighter color.

Thanks

I'm afraid your question is too general than
what this forum is for.

As Shin mentions, this question might be better posed in a production forum....

But, the real stuff is "expensive" because of how much light it returns...the bright green is even brighter on camera than to the naked eye.

Technically any color would work as long as it isn't in your foreground element and you have enough light on the backdrop so it reads nice and clean. However, green and blue come in green screen production paint varieties and if it's something you plan on doing more than once, it's worth it.
