Upgrade & video noise

I have version 1.5.7. I am wondering it an upgrade to the latest version would preserve my color settings and whether it would help with some video noise. I am told by editors that the noise is readily handled with a hardware NR, but they are not sure what is causing it. I have tried a noise filter, such as De:Noise and it turned my blacks into magenta with little elimination.

Color Finesse doesn't have a noise reducer as such, although one can often hide noise through careful color correction--selectively crushing blacks, for instance.
Color Finesse 2.1 was designed to co-exist with 1.5, so projects don't automatically get upgraded to use 2.1 simply by installing it. You'll need to manually export your color correction settings (use the Save Settings button) from 1.5 and re-import them into 2.1. It's a pretty quick process, even if you have a lot of color corrected clips, plus it's a one-time deal.
You can run CF 2.1 in demo mode (you get a pink lines overlaid on the image) to see if it will do what you need before taking the plunge.
