Color Finesse and Intensity Pro
by Raoul Hernandez on Jun 20, 2009 at 5:46:09 pm

Hi,

I'm about to start grading my current project in After Effects CS4 using Color Finesse 2.1.10. I just bought a Blackmagic Intensity Pro card to output my image to an HDMI monitor which works perfectly fine in After Effects. When I open up the full interface of Color Finesse though, the external monitor either goes black, or holds on the last image that was displayed in After Effects.

In the Color Finesse preferences, I've set the External Preview Device to Blackmagic Output, which doesn't have any effect. I've noticed that the External Display Mode box is blank - it doesn't give me any options at all. I suspect this is part of the problem (or else a symptom of the problem).

I've uninstalled the intensity Pro drivers, as well as color finesse and re-installed them and am still having the same problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Raoul.

Yes, there is a problem with the Intensity Pro and Color Finesse on Windows.

When we query the driver for display modes, we're getting nothing; no modes at all. Because of this you see nothing in that second popup menu and we don't initialize the card. We're currently researching whether this is a driver problem (other Blackmagic cards are working fine) or something we're doing wrong.

I'll post something here as soon as we have a resolution.

Note that it works fine on the Mac with CF 2.1.10, providing you have the current Intensity Pro Mac drivers.

(We had one user report success if they first disabled the Intensity Pro card in AE, then started Color Finesse. We haven't seen that ourselves, but you might try.)
