Nick LyonsError Reading Scene (all files corrupt....)
by on Jun 2, 2011 at 3:13:20 am

So this is the SECOND time today that my scene file corrupted. After the first time I learned my lesson, or so I thought, and saved a new file every 30 mins. Before I rendered I re-started my computer and then tried to open the file and got a read error message. I deleted my preferences since I heard that's what you do, but that didn't work. All the auto-save files are now reading the same damn thing. This final is due tomorrow morning and I honestly don't have the time to recreate the whole scene again. Any help?

Hey. 1 are you saving as ma or mg files? Ascii files can be read and if the corruption is in the headers it can sometimes be fixed. That being said have you imported your scene into a new cleanscene and tried saving that? Some times that will clear out corruption. Do you have many referenced files? If yes do you have nested referenced files... that is files referenced within reference files? That is a no no and can cause crashes.

All I can think of now. Try some if these fixes.... fix headers import into fresh files and make sure you have no nested references. Also reload mental ray. It can sometimes cause crashes. Good luck Aharon
