Any suggestions

Hello,
I am a high school teacher working in FCP and perhaps Avid. I would like a camera which is better than a prosumer, gives me good depth of field and will not have me looking for a new camera any sooner than 2 years. I am interested in working in 24p as well as 30P. I am tired of those cameras which limit the creative angle of a shoot. I am currently using a Panasonic PV-GS250 (3CCD). I am willing to spend a little over $2,000. I would appreciate any help you might give me.

I think anyone would be hard-pressed to find a better value in a truly professional camcorder.
1/2" chips for more precise depth-of-field, variable shooting speeds, true 1080p 24p
High Definition shooting, memory card recording (no wanting to buy "newer technology" in 2 years) built-in HD-SDI interface and an amazing price.
If your budget is less, (and many others are in that same situation) then you will lose nearly all of those features, and drop below most of the basic criteria you listed in your post.
But, I'm sure others have their favorite choices in a less-costly camcorder.

Get the XH-A1 at $3300. It's truly the most camera you can get for the money at this point in time and you will have it for more than 2 years, thus justifying the additional $1300.
Either that or hang with a Vixia for $800 for a year.
Best,
Todd
