Hey all,

I'm new to the "professional" realm of video production and editing and am trying to gain some insight into how you all deal with working for a remote client?

What's the best way to send/receive large files across the internet? I was thinking Dropbox, but I'm not too sure. Thanks in advance.

How large are the files, and how many a week do you need to make available? How fast is your Internet connection? What quality videos do you want to supply to your clients?

Drop Box is fine; Google Docs works as well, will some file size limitations. You could also set up an FTP or HTTP file server at your place with a device such as this; the client can access the files from there. May require a fast "up" connection depending on the volume. Most DSLs are asymmetric with slow "up" speeds.

I'm not really sure yet about file size specifics haha. It's mostly preemptive, just in case I ever run into that situation. I've used Dropbox in the past, but wasn't sure if there was something better out there.

It will probably be awhile before I need a dedicated server. Right now, I don't anticipate needing to send a file any bigger than 5GB once or twice a week at this stage. Thanks for all the tips Alex!

I am liking Google Drive better and better: once uploaded (or synced), the video can be viewed right away via YouTube viewer (but without the mess of public comments, etc.) - as well as downloaded.

No ads of course.

With the fact that YouTube allowed up to 2K resolutions, this seems like the best private video sharing interface.

YouTube has a limit of 25 people maximum, with whom you can share private videos. G-Drive - unlimited.

Nice.
