I searched the forums but couldn't find definitive recommendations that seem to do what I am seeking. Looking for software that can clone external HDDs. I use SuperDuper at work (Mac based at work), and at home I am PC, editing with Premiere Pro. The issue is I've accumulated 600+ GB of media/assets for a personal project at home and want to clone that primary external USB 3 HDD for safety.

Any recommendations for software that, like, SuperDuper allows you to back up all files from one drive to another. And then in the future you can run "Smart Update" where only those files that changed are cloned, saving time rather than running the full back up again. The resulting clone is exactly like the master drive, and either could be mounted and used for editing.

I've seen recommendations for Norton Ghost, SyncBack, Arconis Disk Director, and Paragon Backup & Recovery. Between all of those potential solutions I am uncertain whether they function similar to SuperDuper: back up external drives, then allow for smart updates. Also create a clone that can be used just like the master. Some archive utilities create compressed "disc image" type files that need to be restored first before being able to access the cloned data. That's not what I need.

Thank you for the help

xxclone does what you want. Not sure they have incremental included in the 'free' version yet or not... It use to.

And if you are not talking about backing up system files and such, but want to just backup assets - these would be any unprotected system files. I use SyncToy from Microsoft for docs and media. It's free and can be set up to do an incremental backup.

Thank you for the recommendation. I am talking about just copying media assets (non system related files). I will try Sync Toy for starters.
