.mov files on PC

I just purchased a dvd called Actional Essentials by Video Co-pilot that contains lots of video footage for video editing. The dvd is in .mov files and i have a PC. My computer will not play the files even after i installed quicktime movie player. Is there anything else i can do or download bf i chalk this up as a waste of $$?..thanks for you help!!
