Supermicro Motherboard
by Todd Perchert on Oct 27, 2009 at 3:33:32 pm

I was just wondering if anyone has anything bad to say about this Supermicro motherboard for an edit system.

I've got 2 other editing systems with Supermicro boards and really like them. Just wanted to find out if anyone has any other opinions.
Thanks. TC

Oh crap! Just realized all those PCIe x16 slots are x8 electrical!
That's no good...

So this looks like it would be the one.

Never load up all those RAM slots! :)

Has slots for a external array (Fastmax Rackmount) which takes a PCIe x8 slot. Video card will be a x16 and AJA Kona LHi takes a x16, if I recall correctly.

That mobo is a beast! And, it will be one that you shouldn't have to upgrade/replace for a while. Just make sure to spend the money on good Zalman cooling.

I think I'm actually going with a pair of Arctic Cooling coolers:

I liked the low noise rating these have - large fan. As long as I can fit both onto the mobo! Their kinda large... :)
