Hi, I bought a Neso USB 250GB hard drive with hope of transferring large files to my PS3.
1. I realised it was NTFS and as the PS3 couldn't read this I downloaded a programme (can't recall name - I'm at work at moment) and reformatted to FAT32 thinking this would resolve problem.
2. Didn't realise FAT32 wouldn't accept files over 4GB!!!
3. Hastily read up online and was steered down the wrong path by a post on another forum advising download MacDrive 7 and convert drive to HFS+ format.
4. I downloaded the trial and did just that. Unfortunately the PS3 couldn't read the HFS+ drive and after reading up again I discovered that the X360 can read this format, but not the PS3.
5. I admit defeat and accept it can't be done, so - Control Panel, uninstall programme - remove MacDrive 7 - seems to have worked, no MacDrive 7 on computer, BUT, no F drive either!.
6. Download MacDrive 7 trial again and the F drive reappears.
7. MY QUESTION IS (after all this bumbling nonsense) how do I reformat the USB drive back to FAT32? Once I do that I can uninstall Macdrive 7 again, and everything will be hunky dory.
I would really appreciate some help, the trial will end in about 5 days and I have no desire to buy the programme as I don't want HFS+ after all. Please help....
Thanks.

I would right click on My Computer and go to "Manage". From there, go to Computer Management/Storage/Disk Management and see if your drive shows up there (I think it should). You should be able to partition/format from there... I think.

That should work to format your drive. If it doesn't, which I've had issues in the past reformatting drives with a Linux install, download and burn a copy of Ultimate Boot CD and boot up to that.

From there you can get to Hard Disk tools from most manufacturers (Hitachi as well) to wipe the drive and get it back to normal working condition. Then you can go back and format with Windows, if needed.
Good Luck! TC

My thanks goes to both posters for their advice. I tried the first 'Disk Management' suggestion this morning and all seems to be back to normal. Phew!
Cheers.
