HI,
Has any one out there burnt a BD-RE and played it back on a Blu Ray player?
I have a Sharp BD-HP20S installed version HU8040100 firmware, but when i ask it to play my disc ,it comes up with the message "can not play this disc" yet it states in the book of words
the it will play BD-RE. I burn my disc's in Toast 9 with the HD plug in.

That Sharp model probably won't play BD-R. I have one as well. Not all players are required to play burned BD discs. Another thing to remember, I don't think Toast burns a BDMV, only BDAV. is there a BDMV file?

HI,
Toast will burn BDMV the HD plug in will do this, when i open the disc up it contains a
BDMV folder plus a Certifcate folder.
As i said the book states this player should play BD-RE or BD-R ,

Does it contain an AACS folder as well? It's possible it's looking for that folder. I have a Sharp and will not play BD-R even though it indicates it will. PS3 is the best platform to use for BD playback.

That's BD's copy protection. It's possible that player needs to see an AACS folder to play. However, the Sharp I have won't play discs with AACS folder. Some player simply won't play BD-R. I'm working on an article right now to found out the low down on which players play what. Here's a master list of players I'm testing. That Sharp is a profile 1.0 player or "Grace Period " player. Playback from BD-r is unlikely.
