VERY Large DVD conversion question - HELP!!
by Steven Wills on Apr 1, 2007 at 1:32:10 pm

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I didn't know where else to post this...

I have a friend who has a PC with two - 175 gig hard drives completely full of VOB files and (now) needs them in a MOV or QT format.
(He didn't know any better and made them into VOB files instead of QT or MOV files to upload them to a server like youtube for playback)

Is there a program or service that will convert all of his 1.5Tb worth of files back to QT or MOV for him?

As you can tell he knows little about this stuff and neither do I.

I could do them one at a time, but this isn't practical since he has hundreds of files.

Any ideas?

Sorry missed the last sentence in your post. Your going to have to do this one at a time - it's easy just takes time. I'd be more than happy to do this for you but it wouldn't be cheap.

Are these VOB files located in Video_TS folders? If so, TMPGENC is the way to go. In TPMGENC there is a source wizard that you can choose the VIDEO_TS folder. You can do a batch encode to QT, AVI, MPEG2, MPEG1 and so on.

PLUS THIS PROGRAM IS CHEAP AND WILL YIELD GREAT RESULTS!!!

Invest 15-30 minutes learning how to use Automator, that'll save a bunch of time.

P.s. TPMGENC is only available on Windows.

"I have a friend who has a PC with two - 175 gig hard drives..." I figured this would be done on a PC.

As for MAC Cinematize isn't bad, just can't remember if it does batches.
