"Professional" DVD media
by AthenRoss on Aug 2, 2006 at 11:39:43 pm

Hello group,

I just wanted to try and get some clarification. I continue to hear different things about DVD-R v. DVD+R, however one thing I did that piqued my interest was that neither of those are professional grade. I mean that the big studio films are actually produced on a separate form of media (DVD Video, glass encased, something of that sort).

Could anyone please clear this up for me? I only use DVDs for QuickTime dailies and file transfers.

Thanks In Advance!
~Athen

Your referring to a Replicated Disc. These are disc that have been phyically pressed rather than "burned". given better reflectivity thus better compatibility amoung more players.
