Lowered black levels
by Rick Diamond on Apr 5, 2005 at 5:36:19 pm

When I burn a DVD using DVD studio Pro, the black level and overall video level is very crushed. Is there an encoding setting I am missing? This happens both when I let DSP encode or when I bring in an MPEG2 file from compressor or squeeze.

What are you viewing the final DVD on? If it's a set top, try going into the players setup and checking out what the black level is set at. Sometimes it reads Black level: brighter/darker. That's just one thing to check.
