Rich, I've had you on the phone quite a bit the last week troubleshooting an RXR and a RT - thank you so much. I've got a G-Speed 3000 fibre channel on one of my suites and want something similar but would like to buy from Avid. What similar Avid product would you recommend? Thanks, Thomas Hughes

Hi Thomas,
I am going to talk about our latest local storage as an option for you. It is the Serial Attached SCSI storage, SAS, which gives you the latest in SAS technology to give you fast, reliable, and protected storage for your editing needs. Follow this link to become more familiar with what Avid has to offer.

Thomas -
the AVID VideoRAID ST rocks. This is a 5 bay SAS/SATA chassis, that is full RAID 5. Although AVID does not officially support this, it is expandable, as there is a SAS expander built into the chassis, which will let you daisy chain additional SAS/SATA chassis onto this one - you can run countless terabytes of storage off of the single ATTO R380 controller card.
In my opinion, this is a much wiser financial investment, than than the AVID VideoRAID RT, which is the expensive, complicated, and limited Promise VTrak. For my money, there is no question that the AVID VideoRAID ST is a MUCH BETTER INVESTMENT than anything from G-Tech, including the bigger G-Speed.
