Medea RTR

I have an RTR with a drive failure. The unit is still working and I have not lost anything due to the RAID 5 format. However, when I replaced the failed drive, it worked fine for a day then show a drive failure in the same position again. The replacement drive is new. What do you guys think. Bad replacement? Bad controller board?

Thanks,

So, are there any Avid (former Medea) tech support guys on this thread? Can I still get service on the RTR units through Avid?

Sorry for the late response...The AVID/Medea Tech guy that watches this site is on vacation till tomorrow..

A couple of things we can do here...Chances are the new drive is fine. First off I would look and see what the Firmware revision is on the array. Do you know how to look for the firmware revision on the array?

You can do the reconstruction again by pulling the drive out while the array is on and re-insert it. This will auto start the reconstruction again. Let that complete and see if it happens again.

If so, and we find that the firmware is up-to-date as well then we need to start looking at the controller being bad.
