Sharing AvidRAID RTR320X
by Jonathan Parke on Aug 4, 2008 at 8:43:48 pm

Our AvidRAID RTR320X is currently a 1.5ter RAID and is connected to a Avid Media Composer 2.8 system. We are planning on buying a newer Avid system.

Our raid can handle 10 drives but is currently only holding 5. If we expand the raid to 10 drives (I think that we still max out at a total of 3ter) can we daisy chain the two sides of the RAID and share the raid between the two systems?

If nothing else it looks like the RTR320X has two independent sides. Could we use one side for the old system and the other side as an independent 1.5ter RAID for the new system (no daisy chain for this senario)?

Thanks in advance.

You wouldn't be able to daisy chain the 2 sides together and share the storage between the 2 systems....

But you can run each system to its own side of the VideoRaid RTR320X. The 10 drive array is 2 separate 5 drive arrays so doing this is no problem.
