Avid harddrives with Final Cut, does it work?

Can you use Avid Ultra 160/LVD hard drives with
Final Cut? How would you mount them?
Thanks...

Hi,
You should be able to use the Avid LVD 160 scsi drives with FCP. You would want the UL3 Atto controller at the least. You would treat it as a SCSI device and should find it detected in Disk Utility to set it up as storage. What is the SCSI controller, MAC and MAC OS you are planning to use it on so I can verify its compatibilty?

Thanks so much for your help rich,

I'm actually finding out about the exact equipment in a few days...

A friend has had a G4 with Avid sitting in her Garage for years and is going to give it my way...

The problem is that the computer is on OS-9....

I'm going to put OS-10 on there, but I'll end up loosing Avid... which isn't a big deal cause I have

Avid on my G5... anyway, I wanted to put final cut pro onto the G4 and take advantage of all the

Avid drive space... I'll get you SCSI controller info as soon as possible.

Thanks again
EDward

Ed - just stop it. You can get an internal SATA hard drive for your MAC that will be dramatically larger than multiple old AVID drives, and I bet the old AVID drives won't do 68mb/sec (which is what modern SATA drives do). You can get a single SATA drive (like a 250 gig or 500 Gig) for under $200. Why would you spend time and money for an ATTO SCSI card, when you can just pop in a small SATA drive into your FCP system, and go to work.

Now stop this nonsense right now !
