Hi,
When you right click where it says unallocated in the long bar portion in disk management, do you not see create volume or create partition? Does it say initialize disk when you right click where in the square box is where you would see the drive letter? I am assuming you have all green light status?
Let me know.

Hello Rich

Thank You so much for your response. Yes, we do have all green light status on the tower.Nothing of what you say was available as all were grey, and could not be selected.I have tried to workaround the problem the following way.
I took the tower to a server and connected it to its SCSI card.At boot up the utility in the BIOS detected the drives and allowed it to be formatted.Back to the AVID workstation , the unit was recognised and a drive letter was assigned.Disk management shows a simple drive and i did converted it to a Dynamic drive. When Avid was launched , in capture tool the drive was visible and media could be captured to it.
kindly comfirm if this procedure is corect .

Best regards,

All sounds in order as you have got it to work. What is the scsi controller in the 8200 computer you are using with the VideoRaid? Is it the LSI on board controller or a 3rd party scsi card?

Hi Rich

sorry for the delay in reply,It is actually the on board SCSI controller.
we are now having some problem with the playout from the timeline. one 25min program was edited on this machine , and we normally digital cut to Betacam SP BVW 75p. during recording there is a slight one off jerk of the picture , and this is intermittent and can occur anytime .it normally do happen as from 3min . do you have any idea what is hapening?

Hi,
Check to see if have the 120.18 driver installed for the LSI scsi contoller. If not, you can find it here.

Hello Rich

I have checked the Driver version on the XW8200 for the LSI logic 1020/1030 ultra 230 SCSI controller, it is version 1.8.12.0
I suppose it is the same you are refering to.

Hi,
In HyperTerminal, at the main menu, option7, display configuration, what is the Max I/O size set at?

Have you looked for answers in the new Avid knowledge base with respect to your Avid Studio with Mojo? Put Avid studio with mojo in the search field to get information on issues and fixes.

Rich,

I'm getting an unsettling error upon startup of my venerable MediaRaid 8 populated w/the 160 gig drives...

"NVRam CRC error!"

When I press to confirm, it goes thru the initialization process and the drives are then available. What's happened/about to happen to my RAID? What steps can I take? Yikes!

Avid forum user suggests that a backup battery is going bad. Your thoughts? If you concur, what are the steps to replace that battery? Are there any precautions to avoid making my RAID info go away?
