Scripting Basics to Intermediate Tutorials/Lessons/Books

Hello good people!
So I have an EXTREMELY repetitive process that I'd like to automate with a script, problem is I know little to nothing about scripting.
So, I humbly request direction to where I can learn the basics. Video tutorials, forums, books, written tutorials, I don't mind the format, as long as I get the learnings :-D

Although the PDF is for CS3, I can't imagine that the scripting process has changed a lot - it's a free PDF from Adobe:
