Cow Forums : Motion Graphics - How Do I?
animating swirls and lines
by Alan Power on Sep 2, 2008 at 12:33:11 pm

Hi all

Im looking for a solution for some motion graphics elements i want to incorporate into my work.
I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on this or help me in any way.

I want to produce something similar to this, or at least learn the techniques used to create this.
(the intro animated logo swirls)

http://www.favoritecolor.tv/

Im guessing that its using shape tweens and motion paths?
or is it done in after effects (trapcode 3d stroke?)
I just cant figure out how its done!!!
The way the swirls grow is what im looking for, they have a tapered end and a nice rounded tip. an organic animation.

Thank you

Are you talking about their splash intro?

It's quite possible it was animated traditionally.
Create a looping animation of the paint stroke tracing a circle.
Scale that animation.

ive been doing a couple of tests and i can get something quite similar with trapcode 3d stroke, with tapered edges.
Thanks for your response.
