Hi guys! I'm working on a project and my client has suggested using the apple TV intro video as inspiration for the spot. Here's what they like... ->
It's a video wall and the client wants their logo to be broken up into multiple frames (equal in size) filled with video, like the apple efx but the wall is formed in the shape of their logo and does not need to bend. The idea is 200+ shots make up the logo. The logo starts tight on 20 or so frames and flies back to settle in the center frame. The frames of video will turn into the logo color and become solid as the logo settles. I'm wondering if anyone has an idea to make the process a little less painful. I would like to work in after effects and thought there might be a filter that will break up the logo graphic into equal parts that i can then replace with the video clips. Any ideas??

What you could do is:
Make a comp that has the assortment of videos making their logo. make sure that the logo comp has only 1 frame with the tvs, because the particles will continue to explode the comp , export it, then import it, so you dont have to wait for the comp to take forever on the preview. Add a Particle Playground effect to the logo clip, turn cannon amount of particles to zero. Then go to the layer exploder and set it for the logo comp. make sure that the background is transparent so the particles will only explode the logo. your gonna want to play around with the gravity settings until you get how you want it. set the particle size to the size that the "TV's" would be.
This should create the effect you want except backwards, Alt+r should reverse it. you can add thier logo to the end of comp( Note: you may have to do some time remapping to the logo comp to get it perfect ).

you can compile all these videos toghether, precomp, distort a little the centre to the back (or do it manually), use particle illusion to find that smoke, and trapcode 's particular to generate the particles thatt go into the rotated logo...
i would not go for the distortion though...
anyway there might be a faster way to do thar, but I think that can be pretty fast and give you good rsults..
btw, do not forget to use lots of masks to reveal the video columns
