chisled text in AE
by John Carrington on Jun 26, 2008 at 6:19:00 pm

I need to make text look like it is 'set' into 2 stone tablets, think ten commandments.
I have tried quite a few different ways but nothing is really looking like its deep into it.
any suggestions would be appreciated thanks guys, I will keep working on it also

I've done that by using a good, solid typeface (thin, ornate ones don't cut it), using few instances of the type layer, some with Bevel Alpha plus various transfer modes to get it right.

Another possible solution that will carry your textures through would be to pre-comp your text and apply CC Glass to your "stone". This by playing with the settings, you will be able to get a desired effect and should be able to make it as chiseled as you desire. Andrew Kramar did a tutorial that similar recently, #65 on AE Bumpmaps, recently... Hope that may help in some way!
