How the f@%^ can I delete audio mixer settings AND the clip out of my timeline in one "delete" key press

I find myself pulling my hair out because I'll perform an add edit on a clip in my timeline and then I want to delete it from my timeline - I highlight it in segment mode and hit delete only to have it remove my audio mixer settings. Then I have to highlight it again and then hit delete again to remove the clip entirely. Is there a keyboard modifier I need to press along with delete or another button I can be pressing to do this with one key stroke once it's highlighted? I tried "lift" but it only gives me the default apple error sound and I tried many different ways of using it.
Thanks!

Don't use segment mode. Instead use Mark Clip (default is T), then lift it out or cut it out. Two keystrokes and you don't need the mouse.
Michael.

Ah, yes there's that way... I just hate having to go and click exactly what tracks on the left hand side I want to lift when by nature, the clip I'm usually lifting is on the right hand side of the timeline so it almost always requires several mouse clicks rather than in segment mode, I can just click once onto the clip itself.
Thank you for the information though!

If I understand correctly what you're asking, highlight the clip(s) in segment mode and hit control+X. You don't have to set in and out points that way. Be conscious of which segment mode you're in (lift or extract) as extract will ripple the following tracks using this method.

Sweet Jesus, thank you lord! :)
That's exactly what I've been looking for (on the mac it's "command" + x) but that's perfect. Lately, I've been working on several shows at once, some in Avid and some in FCP (not by choice, whatever the post house prefers to online with), all from my home edit bay and I've been switching between the two each day and sometimes each half day so as a more natural FCP editor and with a FCP mindset (even though I originally learned Avid first, back in 04') I find myself in segment mode a lot in Avid. This is going to really help save some hair, 1000 thanks David!

Happy to help. It's a shortcut I picked up from someone here at the COW.
