Exporting video to use in Final Cut Pro 7

I work in Avid Media Composer v3.1.1. I need to export video clips to be used in FCP 7. But when I use the fast export NTSC option, FCP and the Quicktime player on my MacBook Pro says they can't recognize the file. What am I doing wrong or what settings should I be using?

When you use fast export you are using the codec you are using in Avid. If you don't have the codec on your FCP Mac, it won't work. Though that shouldn't show up as an unrecognized file.
Are you exporting a QT or maybe you have AVI selected which is definitely an issue in the Mac universe?

I changed the export settings to use custom settings and that seemed to work. I've got an interlace issue now, even if I change the field order in my export settings, it doesn't correct the problem in FCP. Might be a setting with FCP.
Is it possible to get just that Avid Codec to install on my FCP Mac?

I installed the Avid codec on my Mac and it's playing the files in FCP but not in the Quicktime player itself. It plays the audio, but no video. Am I am still having a field issue. I'm working in 720x486 DV50. If I select to use the Avid Codec, it doesn't let me change the field order or the resolution.

[Eric Nicastro]"I'm working in 720x486 DV50"
This is why you are having a problem. DV and DV 50 are normally 720 x 480, though I believe using the Avid codec you can select to use 720 x 486. This should not be a big problem in FCP...just add the Shift Fields filter in FCP.
