I am logging footage, and looking at b-roll and the usual stuff...and I want to hear music while I do this. But when I go into Avid, iTunes goes quiet. Is there any way to disable this?

Not sure on a Mac, but check the Sound Card Configuration settings. Also, when you switch back to Avid make sure the speaker icon at the top of your timeline (not the actual audio tracks) isn't muted. If it is, unmute it and see if it lets iTunes play.

AHA! When I went into Avid, the audio in the menu dropped to nothing...muted. When I clicked on the finder, it went to full. So in the Avid, I just raised the volume. Apparently there is a way to lower the audio while you are in an App, so that while you are in that app, and ONLY when you are in that app background is muted...so system sounds aren't LOUD. Must be an Avid thing...don't notice this anywhere else.

A caution - if you are connected to the internet, and don't have automatic updates in iTunes diabled, iTunes will update itself along with Quicktime. Then you'll wonder why Avid isnt' working so well...

Thanks for the warning, but that is one thing I definately know not to do. I never automatically update anything. I have been using Avid for 15 years, and know how finicky it is.
