Avid Export to QT preserving Time Code
by Charles Johnson on Oct 1, 2008 at 12:37:47 pm

We are using Avid MediaComposer and would like to export to a Quicktime file and preserve the original time code within QuickTime.
(not burned to the image - an actual TC track.
Is this possible? are there additional software tools to complete the process?

When Avid exports (or imports) a Quicktime it strips the timecode. However, with Quicktime Pro I believe you can add a timecode track, so you may be able to manually input the timecode after export.

I've never tried it so I can't tell you for sure it will or won't work, but it would be worth trying.

Michael.
