Avid- Audiosuite trouble
by Geoffrey Johnston on Sep 25, 2008 at 5:39:42 pm

I'm having trouble exporting a spot that contains Audiosuite fx (time compression). Never had this problem before. The audio clip that has the time compression has the last few frames (the amount that the clip has been sped-up) cut-off when exported. I tried an audio mixdown, and it did the same thing to it. I've tried QT and WMA formats when exported, and it occurred in both.

It, also, gives me an error message while exporting that says..."AudioMixdownController::FreeCacheBuffer()cache buffer was overwritten!?! {7} (0)"

Avid Newscutter XP v6.5.3

Any thoughts?

Check the options of your export settings. Do you have either use enabled tracks or use marks selected?

I believe that's the default. If you've upgraded recently, your settings could have gotten changed...

Thanks, Jon. Yeah, those are both checked. Haven't upgraded in awhile. I exported some other spots that turned out just fine before and after this one particular spot that has some time compression audio fx. It's baffling me because even doing a mixdown of the compressed audio track is causing it to clip part of the VO.

Another dumb question - do you have audiosuite running when you are exporting?

For some dumb reason Avid takes the length of the original clip as the source for your time-compressed effect. Unlike trimming (where it is able to access available handles) it just stops processing at the current out-point. So what you need to do is first make the clip longer, then apply time-compression, and then you cut it to the needed duration.

Cheers

Arnoud
