Best export settings for web from AVID Media Composer?
by Tasha Li on Aug 21, 2008 at 9:23:57 pm

I'm wondering if anyone has a great suggestion for a high quality export setting from Avid Media Composer for 30 secs of media streaming on the web.

I use to use LAN settings to export from Avid, but found the quality was awful, so I switched to exporting same as source, and then converting the footage in QuickTime Pro into H.264 (which is small and looks amazing, but adds another step to the process, taking up more time).

Can anyone recommend a setting that will produce small (under 5MB) QT's that look good straight out of the avid? I only ever export 30 secs of footage at a time (commercial).

Cheers :)

Export QuickTime directly and select options and pick the same H.264 settings you did in QuckTime Pro.

As Michael wrote, you get the exact same H264 encoding options in MC as you get in QT Pro. Click the options or settings button in the QT export window.
If quality is important, choose a multipass H264 encoding.
