Judder in full screen playback DNxHD 36
by fiona cairns on Jul 9, 2008 at 6:10:55 am

Hi I'm working with Red and taking the footage into Avid as DNXHD 36. It judders when I try to play full screen or out to a monitor. It is mainly on the 50fps footage and when there is a lot of movement. Is there a way around this?

I'm using a MacBookPro at the moment with Lacie Firewire 800. Would using a tower with faster processor get rid of this problem?

Thanks

Fiona

Was it shot 50fps with the intention of 25fps play back, or is it itendened for 50fps playback? How are you importing it?

It was shot at 50fps, intended for 25fps playback. I'm creating QT refs of the footage and then using metacheater to keep meta data then importing the ale and then using batch import to import the footage as DNxHD 36.

I wonder if you are getting frame blending in import. Can you import a QT reference without Metacheater or merge and see what it looks like? Then try entering this into the console:

ignoreqtrate true

to turn it off afterwards:

ignoreqtrate false

Sorry. What console is it that I enter it into?

Look under the Tools menu, I believe. You'll see an option for console. It will open up a box with a text line where you can enter commands. I think the shortcut is Ctrl+6 on a PC, so that may be CMD+6 on a Mac.

Michael.
