Can anyone tell me how to export a graphic while preserving the Alpha Channel?

You can't. You can export the fill and alpha seperately and combine them in Photoshop or After Effects or another program like that. It's been a feature request for years. Maybe one day, but until then it's alpha and fill seperately.
