Can you tranfer an Avid Project to Final Cut Pro?
by Jacqueline Weissman on Jun 20, 2008 at 1:15:33 am

Hi All,

I'm new to this list so please forgive me if this has been discussed before. I'm an Avid editor using the latest version of Media Composer. I have a big project that I want to give to another editor who uses Final Cut Pro. Is there anyway I can use another piece of software to transfer over the entire project? I know Automatic Duck will help me transfer sequences but I have entire logged bins of clips I want to transfer. Does anyone know any process for this?

Thanks so much.

Jackie

You can export each bin as an ALE file. Then (you, if on a Mac, or the FCP editor) use donationware Sebsky Tools ale2fcp utility to convert the ALE files to batch lists which can be imported in FCP. Details on the process with the app and at its website.
