Avid Import Error Code -37 (-43)
by Mathias Klötzler on Jun 10, 2008 at 3:36:54 pm

Hello,

I am working with Avid (and, like this time, Avid Xpress DV 4.6) for already several years, but since a few days I got the same problem over and over again. I want to import some QT 720x576 H.264 (best) but Avid always complains:

An error occurred while importing Quick Time movie., errcode: -37

Sometimes it switches between the error codes (-43)... what makes it even more confusing. I converted the movies with different codec like DV-Stream, Avid DV, etc. but nothing helped. (They usually do!)
I read the thread about the chance that it might be a too long name but this only worked for some.

May be someone of you has had the same problem and can may be help me, bacause I am out of ideas. Can it be that this is another bug of QT 7.4. which hazards with AFX?

Thank u very much for your help!
cheers maT

Further mey be needfull information:
G4; Mac OSX 10.4; Avid Xpress DV 4.6; QT Pro 7.4.

Your QT version is WAAAAY too new for that version of XDV. At best you should be on QT 6.5.2 or something.

7.4 is not supported for use with any XpressPro (which replaced XDV)

Media Composer 3.0 (released on Monday) announced support for QT 7.4.5

Also I think you're running the wrong OS as well.

I had the same problem and could not import files. The error message was the same: errcode -37. I did not have errcode - 43.
What worked for me was to copy the files I wanted to import to another volume. That was it, the iport worked then.
Maybe Avid does not support importig files, that are on the same volume as the application. For some reason...
