Media Composer - No Audio

Media Composer - No Audio

I've recently installed Avid Media Composer, a software only installation, and can't get the audio to playback through the speakers. It will playback through the DV device I have attached, but it won't play through the speakers when I detach it. What do I have to do in order to get it to play through the speakers?

I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2 on a Powerspec Pentium 4 3.00 ghz, 2.99 ghz processors with about 1 gig of Ram. I was given AVID as a graduation gift (woo, done with college!) If there's anything else you need to know, don't hesitate to ask!
