Mojo problems
by Irene Vandertop on Jun 3, 2008 at 6:23:32 pm

Hi,
I've had trouble with my Mojo that doesn't want to output an image other than the avid logo. When I play video from Avid Media Composer, the output via Mojo shows some vague signal changes, so it looks like something comes through though. Only the lights '48k', 'host', and 'power' are on.
I've read all previous threads about the topic, followed tips and checks, but still no result. It seems like many people have problems with this piece of hardware.

My system: Windows XP sp 3
2 GB ram, pentium 4cpu, 3.00 GHz
I'm working with Avid Media Composer v2.8

fyi: I have updated the firewire firmware, tried different firewire cards, checked the cables, and monitor, and all seems fine.
It seems there are problems configurating the deck; it doesn't find the Mojo (but when attaching a different firewire device, it works fine). I'm getting so fed up with this thing which previously worked on this machine. Is there any reliable alternative for the Mojo?

You do mean SP2, right? I'm pretty sure there isn't a SP3 for XP, and if there is, it's not for use with Avid. Is this a qualified machine? You said it has worked in the past - what has changed? Is your Mojo connected to the primary FW bus, with nothing else attached?

FWIW, My Mojo's (2 analog and 1 SDI) have worked flawlessly since I've had them.

As for alternatives, you could get an Adrenaline... Seriously, there is a rumour that Avid is letting a third party build compatible hardware, but its just a rumour at this point.

I got it to work - it was the video output settings I had wrong.
(yea, you may laugh)
But still the image on the monitor is not right, the picture freezes every 3 seconds, and then goes on. Seems like some hardware has difficulty processing the data. It's not even HD, I don't see the problem
