Does quicktime important into avid alter the image?

I am trying to color correct a movie cut on Final Cut. I was going to output to digibeta then digitize into the Avid.
Then I thought, is it possible to export a ginormous quicktime, and import that into Avid? Will this change the picture, importing a quicktime into the Avid?

If you export a self contained quicktime from FCP in the RGB colorspace, interpret the color as RGB when you import into Avid. If you export as 601, interpret as 601 when you import into Avid. Then you shouldn't see a color shift at all.
HOWEVER: If time is an issue, you don't want to go this route. The time it takes to export a quicktime then import that quicktime into Avid, which Avid will have to transcode to OMF or MXF, will be a killer.
Even if you export your FCP quicktime in an Avid codec, which will speed up your import time into Avid, it will still take forever (depending on the length of your timeline). Even with this "fast" import, though, I think it would be faster just to lay to tape and digitize.

i agree.
Besides, it's hell to test if not both machines are on the same location.
And if they are, why even go trough digibeta? Just play out FCP and record that in AVID...
Next, export an EDL or so out of FCP, and get a macro to cut up the avid timeline for easy CC'ing (otherwise you have to manually match frame a lot of clips...)
There is one on my site, the free demo version is enough for this job.
