Workflow - Avid Xpress to Media Composer
by Pendulum on Jun 24, 2007 at 12:53:57 am

I'm using Xpress Pro HD on PC. I have a short sequence (2 minutes) I want to put on Beta SP. I don't have a deck connected to this system but have access to one connected to an Avid Media Composer on Mac. What settings and compressor should I use for quick export and import from one system to the other?

Couldn't you just consolidate the sequence copying the media to another drive and open the entire thing in Media Composer? The codec is cross platform.

Because my system is PC and the other Mac I can't connect the drive. I guess what I could do is burn the consolidated media to a DVD. I'll try that. Thanks

Do you have a drive that is formatted Fat32? The Mac would be able to read the drive. Avid breaks the media into 2gb chunks.

If you need to transfer across platforms on a regular basis, I would highly recommend: MacDrive 6.

We used this a lot before moving to an Avid LanShare environment.
