Best way to incorporate 4:3 into 16:9 footage
by pom_boarder on Jul 21, 2006 at 4:50:26 am

Hi all,

Im working on an edit where 90% of the footage was shot in 16x9 but some preliminary footage which I need to use was shot letterboxed 4x3 by mistake. What is the best way to incorporate it into a 16x9 broadcast.

Im resizing in avid to 16x9 proportions and rendering but when I playback to my deck through firewire the footage is resorting to its original proportions. all other effects are playing correctly however.

I could convert it in after effects and reimport the sequence to the avid timeline.

Any advice appreciated

is it 16/9 letterbox within a 4/3 frame? is so you should just zoom it up(it will degrade signicantly) till the tramlines are out of frame and render.
