Niels Rozaconnect TV through camcorder for preview

Hi all,

i'm setting up my Avid set-up at home. I'm running Media Composer from a laptop with an additional 22 inch lcd for dual monitoring.
Now i've connected a small TV for previews via s-video on my laptop which works, although I can only get to run 2 screens at the time, so it's only my external 22" lcd plus TV for previews.

Now I know there should be a way to connect the TV through the camcorder/deck which runs via firewire to the laptop. That way I could utilize the three screens at once.

Would anyone be so helpful as to explain the necessary steps and settings in Avid?

Many thanks!

If I understand correctly, you should be able to connect your camera's S-Vid out to the external monitor, instead of the computer's S-Vid out. This should free your laptop's LCD.

Thanks for the reply.

Though I already figured out that I have to connect the camera's S-vid out to the external monitor (being the TV). The other monitor is a 22 inch lcd which functions as my main screen running the Avid timeline and source/record windows, while the laptop screen is dual configured with the 22 inch.
So the the TV is an extra 3rd screen I have to connect via the camera with S-vid directly to the TV instead of the laptop's S-vid. (the laptop can only drive 2 screens at a time).

I believe I have set in Avid to run the output through a DV device. And it actually DOES work when I use the TV as a 2nd screen instead of the laptop's. That is when I enable the Full Screen Display function in Avid.

What am I missing or am I forced to choose between either TV output or 2nd lcd screen?
