YUV and RGB and why?

For using color spaces to grade in, when do you use RGB and when do you use YUV?
My impression is:
YUV is for anything that ends up being for television broadcast.
RGB is for web media and films.
Is it as simple as that? What if that film becomes aired on TV? If it was colored in an RGB space, what happens when it's aired on TV with the YUV space?
I have been doing reading on different postings online, but I haven't read anything yet that drew definitive guidelines for me.

Juan Salvo:
"Resolve always works in RGB space."
The Blackmagic Cinema Camera will save in ProRes and DNxHD in the YUV space. Of course it is designed to be ingested or edited in both DaVinci Resolve and FCP X. Ninjas thought Apple used RGB but a posting on BMCuser.combrecently said that apple switched from using RGB to YUV in their displays as of 2011. Is there a problem with these changes in colour space or is it transparent going from YUV from the BlackMagic Cinema Camera to RGB in DaVinci Resolve and then to YUV presumably in FCP X and back for grading in Resolve in RGB? I was surprised to read Apple has switched from RGB to YUV in 2011.
