Hey guys,

I'm having a problem with Resolve. I can't connect to the database or create a new one.
Also I cannot connect to the database via PostgreSQL.

I already tried this:

- Reinstall Resolve
- Manual Uninstallation:

1) Stop the server

sudo /sbin/SystemStarter stop postgresql-8.4

2) Remove menu shortcuts:

sudo rm -rf /Applications/PostgreSQL 8.4

3) Remove the ini file

sudo rm -rf /etc/postgres-reg.ini

4) Removing Startup Items

sudo rm -rf /Library/StartupItems/postgresql-8.4

5) Remove the data and installed files

sudo rm -rf /Library/PostgreSQL/8.4

6) Delete the user postgres

sudo dscl . delete /users/postgres

Any suggestions?

Cheers!

Yannick

Hi Yannick,

Sorry to hear you're having this issue. Was there an event that lead to this starting? Are you able to verify PostgreSQL is installed and running? Do you have a firewall enabled?

Hey Juan,

thanks for your reply!
PostgreSQL is installed - although when I try to connect to resolve database via pgAdmin III the server is not being found.
Firewall is off.

Thanks!

You didn't say what caused this to start?

Can you try this manual uninstall procedure? Let us know if you get any error along the way.

First run the davinci uninstaller.

Then

i) Stop the server.
sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.edb.launchd.postgresql-8.4.plist

ii) Remove the plist file
sudo rm -f /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.edb.launchd.postgresql-8.4.plist

iii) Remove the Applications Menu.
sudo rm -f "/Applications/PostgreSQL 8.4"

iv) Remove the installation directory
sudo rm -rf /Library/PostgreSQL/8.4

v) Remove the 'postgres' user
sudo dscl . delete /Users/postgres

vi) Remove the ini file
sudo rm -f /etc/postgres-reg.ini

Then rerun the davinci installer.

Hi Juan,

Sorry to budge like this here, but I need some help related to this:

I was having issues with random flickers that occurred during my coloring sessions with Resolve. I found out through here that a solution may be upgrading to OS 10.8 upgrade. I followed it, and installed it, however, now I have another issue that is killing me: I opened resolve (9.03) and it now says that it's unable to connect to the database - the list is blank.

I tried uninstalling resolve, and installing it again -but same problem.

So please, any advice on how to get my database connected WITHOUT loosing the projects that I have (and which I need to continue working on?) This is kind of urgent, and I'm sort of new with Resolve.

Many thanks!

Hi, although this thread may be dated, the issue is not. I ran into the same problem today. At first, I thought that nothing in the system had changed recently. However, as it turned out I had installed "Easy-hide-IP" some days ago and not touched DaVince since then. Although Easy-Hide-IP was not actually running I deinstalled it anyway. Luckily, this brought back my database in DaVinci.

Even though this is quite specific, maybe if you experience the same problem it is worth looking into that direction.

Good luck!
Andreas
