Which camera do you sugest?

Hi,
I am currently an european film school freshman, I study film, but I have no Idea about available cameras so far. Which cameras would you suggest to a film camera student? I woudl prefer an hd cam with p2 storage. But correct me if thats a bad choice. I am planning on shooting usually narrative movies.

Hi Markus, don't worry too much. After all your creative part is still most important, the rest is just a question of your budget. As there are so many options these days, start thinking about buying a camera with optional harddisk recording as VCRs are definitely a budget issue. Sometimes it's better to spend more money on the camera and GOOD lenses rather than spending the money just to feed the footage to a computer.

Markus,

Do you have a budget in mind. Are you just buying the camera and lens or do you need batteries, a tripod and head, camera case, etc?

Give me a ballpark and I'm give you my two cents.
