Sony DSR-40P capture problem in Premiere Pro CS4
by Rick Mcleod on Nov 6, 2009 at 2:04:25 pm

OK, so am borrowing the DSR-40P unit for a few days to get some DVCAM tapes into an edit.

Firstly, is there any software driver I can download into Vista for the unit?

Now, unit apparently keeps going offline, I may replace the Firewire cable as a precaution just to check.

Of course, the unit isn't listed in the settings of CS4 Premiere Pro, typical!

Or if anyone can point me to a user manual, that would possibly help as well.

Any guidance would be very much appreciated on how to get the unit to work in line with Premier Pro so that I can capture the tapes.

The DSR-40 is listed under the Sony presets in the device control settings. You don't need the "P" that only tells you its a PAL recorder, you need to setup for DV PAL in the project settings, you can download a manual for the DSR-40 at the link below.
