sony dcr-vx2000e pal and imovie

I bought a cony - vx 2000e pal used on craigs list - I think it is a model from outside the US - I recorded video on it and it plays on that camera and on a HDR-FX7 but it will not load up onto Imovie on my MAC - all i get is a blue screen - any ideas??

Help - I really need this video

The video from the cam is PAL video 720x576/25fps(50i), there is plenty of info online about using PAL video in imovie just do a search for "imovie + PAL"
